I have been really sick the past couple of days. I am fairly certain I was brewing something for a long time, and then went to a friend's place for Passover dinner and smoked a little. I think that did me in ( Read more... )

There is a ritual part to Passover in which people eat unleavened bread, Gefilte Fish, an egg, and various condiments. They all have symbolic importance that I don't have a firm grasp of. After all that a regular meal is served. In this case it was brisket, though I think the last time I went to a Passover dinner it was chicken. I don't know if that bit matters as much.

I really like a lot of aspects of Judaism. However, I had spent the entire day previous to that listening to Christopher Hitchens, and even though I think he discredits himself by speaking against religion in such strong absolute terms it was difficult not have my views at that moment skewed.

I have been meaning to ask you what you study.

Biology at Maynooth. I do maths as well but I'm dropping that at the end of the year. So I'll have a bachelors in biology at the end of this. (2010 hopefully)

I keep meaning to try to make Lattkes but I have no idea what Matzo meal is or where I can find it.

No, the racoon has nothing to do with the story. I decided I wanted to draw this guy when I came across this painting one day:
