I spent most of today working on freelance stuff. However, while at the gym I saw a guy wearing a shirt with a whale on it, and I felt compelled all day to draw one myself. I limited my pallet to brown and white, and went at it when I really should have been going to bed.

Sorta uninspired, but I am over drawing whales until next time.

The white bubbles on the tail and above the blowhole . . . spatterings of gouache? Or masking fluid?

He looks a bit hungover. Do whales see pink elephants, I wonder?

It is all gouache. I have never really gotten into masking fluid. I don't like how it ruins brushes.

It would be really strange if whales and elephants were somehow aware of each other.

He looks like he's either very tired or his stomach hurts. I like how you handled the shading on his side, it makes him seem so.. fishy. : )

Man, I meant for the shading to make him look mammally.
