A simple wish....

This is what I want for Valentine’s Day - I want a party where we all drink delicious champagne (I have a lovely one that’s even “pink” - 100% pinot noir, baby!) I want a table full of lace, construction paper, stickers and glitter and the like, and I want everyone to make valentines. Furthermore, I want my friends to want to make valentines, not ( Read more... )

You've got three days to make it happen, baby!

Sounds LOVELY!

Ya know, this is the first time in years I haven't done a construction paper, crayon, and doily Valentine for anyone! I should remedy that. I could make 'em for my neighbors.

And, ya know? I never once went to a kissing party in high school.

*sigh*

Ah, well, I made up for it in college.

High school guys are a little easier to control. A college style makeout party would be rather less innocent, I think.

I do miss kissing lots of boys. I don’t want to do anything bad - just line ‘em up and kiss ‘em.

Kissing is FUN!

Aw, now I miss having my entirely kissable but highly safe gay boys near by. Always ready for a cheering snog, they were, and no risk of it going too far.

That sounds like the most delicious V-Day party in the world!

Just a dream, though.

But in my dream, you can be the belle of the ball (after me, of course.)

Everyone should have a chair with a home made envelope on the back of it with their name on it, and then you can put valentines in other people's envelopes just like in elementary school. And you have to make one for everyone!

Now I am having a flashback of buying those packs of valentines at the pharmacy with like Barbie or something on them, and I would always go through and find the really crappy ones to give to the people I didn't like because you had to give one to everyone even if you hated them.

You know, I almost wrote that. But then I figured nobody would be willing to make that many. But since it’s a fantasy anyway, yeah! Absolutely!

I’ve actually thrown a few parties not too different from this one in the past. It seems like my friends are just getting set in their ways, though. Very frustrating.

My friends would never throw a party like that, and I don't have a pantry!

I say do it. How hard would that be to throw together?

The hard part, as I said, is getting people to cooperate in setting the mood.

I wish I could invite all of you. You obviously get it.

No no no...YOU set the mood. If you want to make valentines and play 7 minutes in heaven in the bathroom, then you only invite like-minded individuals; even if you barely know them. From work...from Neil's work...whatever. Counting on others to set the mood always mucked everything up for me and I've since learned my lesson. I wish you'd do it. And show us pictures of the valentines and tell stories about kissing so and so in the bathroom/dark closet. It's like being a kid again, except with wine and light naughtiness. I'd adore a party like that!

The problem is - the friends I know who would be up for silly crafty fun would not be up for lighthearted smooching, and vice versa. I could probably get lancemen to cooperate, but he’d run off w/o half my female guests! And my pal Eli, but he's in CA. And maybe my friend Van, but he and his wife are on vacation. My friend DeeDee just had a baby....I need more cool friends!

I’d never do it w/ work people, though - I’m really big on keeping that life separate from my private life.
