Wow. So Lauren was a seventh year now? That... was odd... really odd, actually, and she wasn't quite sure what to think about it. But WOW! SEVENTH YEAR! Party!!!

Only this caused some internal pain within her, as she was coming to the realization that she was getting older -- the same thing happened to her last year and had caused her to go into a state of depression for the first two weeks of school!! Suffice to say, she was determined not to let that happen this year.

And it wouldn't, as long as she surrounded herself around people and continued to do all the things that she enjoyed. Which was why she was currently wandering down the main corridor of the train, in search of friends and people to hang out with during the train trip to school!

Jase was really, really excited for seventh year. It was his last at Hogwarts and he planned to make the most of it. Starting.. right now. He grinned to himself as he spotted a certain housemate of his up ahead and he broke into a light jog to catch up to her, slinging an arm around her shoulders once he reached her side.

"Well, if it isn't my favorite.. Lauren," he said, flashing her a charming, dimpled grin.

Lauren hadn't had much luck in finding anyone that she really wanted to hang out with -- most the the students she saw walking about the train so far were younger than her. Not that she minded the young ones, she just... was hoping for more excitement and entertainment during the journey.

And if there was anyone who could entertain her, Jase was probably one of the top five. Heh. So when he joined her, Lauren knew that any depressing thoughts that were roaming about her brain about getting older were now going to be put to rest. He'd distract her. Whether that would be in the form of joking or... other things, she wasn't sure. But honestly, she was up for anything!

"Favorite because I'm just incredibly amazing and charming and beautiful?" She smirked up at him, "Or favorite because I happen to be the only Lauren that you know?" The girl clicked her tongue twice, shaking her head lightly, "I'm hoping for the first one, personally."

Oh, yes, Jase would definitely distract her. Gladly.

"Mmmm, the first thing, of course," he said, flashing a charming grin and laughing. "Besides, you don't know that I don't know any other Laurens. I could know tons of them!"

Okay, so what if he didn't. He could. Besides, no one said flirting had to be entirely truthful.

Tyler had mixed feelings about his return to Hogwarts. On the one hand, it was going to be odd being at school without Preston around and he was going to miss summer holiday and having nothing more to do that laze around all day.

But he didn't mind school so much, either. Especially since he'd made Captain this year. Not surprising, of course. He was the best player on the team, after all (if you asked him) and a natural leader. Slytherin would win the cup for sure this year.

Currently, he was moving along, arm slung casually around his girlfriend's shoulders as they wandered down the corridor of the train, looking for a quiet car to relax in once they'd left the Prefect's meeting.

Jayden had spent most of her summer with friends and with Tyler. They'd gotten together this summer and she was head over heels for him, which was a wonderful distraction, considering what her home life was like. Her mother was in Azkaban (the thought made her shudder). Her father was dead and just she and Dari were left. Not that she and Dari even got along. But still, Jayden, secretly, clung to the small fact that at least she had some part of her family left. However, Dari had left and Jayden had been all alone in the giant manor. Which was not the kind of thing she liked.

So she'd kept as busy as possible. And been thrilled beyond belief when her Hogwarts letter arrived, thrown herself a party at the prefects badge's arrival, and gone shopping. She was looking forward to being back at school, surrounded by friends, in her own element. Not having to worry about the war, her mother, the state of the house, where Dari was... and just be herself.

She snuggled further into Tyler, smiling. Yeah, she was glad to be headed back.

Of course, Tyler actually knew all this. He and Jayden had been friends for years, after all, even before he'd asked her out this summer. And he hadn't been oblivious to what a rough year the girl had been having - between her father and more recently her mum.

He gave her shoulder a light squeeze as he pulled her a bit closer to him. He wasn't going to bring up any of it, because he knew she'd talk if she wanted to, but he wanted to let her know he was there.

"This year is going to be great, yeah?" he said, pressing a quick kiss to the side of her head before pulling her into the empty compartment he'd finally found just now.

Jayden followed him into the compartment and smiled. "Yes, Prefects together!" she grinned and did a little squee, letting herself get excited about the concept again. "And of course, I get to brag about dating the Captain of the Quidditch team" she added, moving herself around as she sat down so she was leaning on him. "So I'd say this year is going to be fabulous!" and she was determined to make it so.

Riley loved her job. She loved Egypt. She was so incredibly glad that she'd followed Lando's advice and got a job in Cursebreaking. When she'd made the decision to run away from home at the beginning of the summer, she was convinced that there'd be nothing for her. True, it was better than supporting a cause she could never agree with, but it was still terrifying. When she landed this job, one that would not only hide her from her former house mates for a little while but also involved Arithmancy, she couldn't have possibly been happier.

Unfortunately, this job left little time for her family. She'd spent practically her entire summer out of the country. She made it home for the family reunion and a few other days here and there, but it definitely wasn't what she was used to. At least her job kept her too busy to get homesick.

And, of course, her first week off in a while started the day that Sam went back to school. Woo and hoo ( ... )

Oh, sure, Darin was right with Riley in knowing that Riley would never hurt Sam. He had no choice but to concede that point to her -- she cared about Sam, wanted the best for her, and all of that.

But he agreed with Riley, too, on the point that that did not mean they got along. He would hold his tongue about the girl around Sam, since Sam cared about her, but he had not changed his mind about Riley, and he had no intention of even trying to do so.

So as the train was rolling out of sight, he tried not to say anything. Really. He did. He almost succeeded, too. Sort of.

"You had to come back today, didn't you?"

Riley shouldn't have been shocked when that particular ludicrous statement came out of Darin's mouth, but she couldn't help it. "Are you kidding me?" she asked before she could stop herself. "I really think you forget she's practically my sister. Of course I'd be back to see her off. Ass."

In all honesty, she was getting better at blowing off Darin's insults and ribbing. She'd grown up a lot over this summer. She'd had to. But being a jerk to her because she came home to see her cousin off to school was beyond pathetic and annoying. Especially when he'd had her all summer.

Ugh.

"You know, you're right. I'm such a horrible person. In Egypt all summer for training, barely getting a week to spend time with Sam and I want to see her before she's back at Hogwarts? What was I thinking?" She started to walk away, attempting to blow him off. Would that happen? Probably not. He'd make another jab and she'd be forced to fight back again. It was the way things were between them and Riley was learning to accept it.

Whatever -- Riley had been gone for most of the rest of the summer. And so sue him if he liked getting Sam time without Riley around, and wished that she wouldn't have been today, too.

Which was really unfair, because he was sure that Sam was glad that Riley had been there, but whatever. He was selfish, what could he say?

Honestly. His sweet, sensitive, giving side only came out around a select few. Not that it was fake, just that it was rare.

He started to say something else -- but she was already walking away and, apparently, blowing him off. And really? Darin had better things to do with his time. Like go back home and write his first letter to Sam, since he planned on basically overloading her with owls this year. So he ended up just rolling his eyes, staying where he was so that she could leave and be gone before he left.

Damn there only being one way in and out, anyway.
