Then Marvel had the bright idea of relaunching Alpha Flight as Omega Flight with 90% of the team being US citizens including the US Agent, but also replacing the Captain America of the team Guardian with an Alaskan postal worker.

Don't forget Beta Ray Bill. If I recall, Mike Oeming retconned Bill's then-human alter ego (a bad move to begin with, especially since people have been trying for years to make him more than a carbon copy of Thor) to being a Canadian citizen in the US army for the sole reason that he could stick BRB in Omega Flight.

... Boy, I'm glad that didn't work out!

But yeah, it's good to see Alpha Flight back in good form. Plus it helps that they actually have a Canadian working on the book (Dale Eaglesham, actually) so Pak and Van Lente can't fake knowledge of Canada, hehe.

I never read the series, the line up itself was just not appealing and soured me on their attempt to bring back the "Canadian" superteam.

I didn't know Beta Ray Bill was changed into a human at some point. Stupid and pointless.

They should have used Bill in the cosmic series Marvel was doing with Nova and the Guardians of the Galaxy

I bought all 5 issues solely for BRB. It... was not all that good anyhow. The art was nice (I like Scott Kollins' style when it's not inked) but that's about it. As an American m'self, even I thought it was stupid to have 3/4ths of the team be comprised of Americans. The hell?

Yeah, Oeming changed him into a human for some inexplicable reason at the very end of the 'Stormbreaker' mini-series back in '05. Ultimately pointless and the whole thing was never addressed when Bill officially returned from 'Omega Flight' (after being trapped in the Realm of the Great Beasts at the end of OF) in the Thor tie-in to Secret Invasion. That was one of the few times where I'm glad something was simply forgotten.

Well, he is in the Annihilators mini-series, but I haven't picked that up because I just don't have the time/spare cash to devote to comics anymore. I'm now 'trades only' kind of person, sad to say.

Scott Kollins was the only draw for Omega Flight for me, I've liked his Flash work, his sketchy stuff tends to work for speedsters. I just found it a bit sad that someone thought the way to regain the appeal of the Canadian superteam was to make them mostly Americans.

I'm glad that they have left that human silliness when they brought Bill back proper to the Marvel U.

I can completely understand the attraction of trades, they collect an entire story, no missing or loose issues cluttering around and they are cheaper overall.

I still have a few I collect as the singles, but I tend to steer towards trades more and more.
