Basically this article make the point that the news is not going away, only the paper based delivery system, which is a good thing, since it's being replaced with something better

I dunno, so so.

There is interesting stuff going on with online news, that's true.

But there is also the fact it's just one more step to big brotherhood. They have already pretty much shown that IP addy's are being documented. There have even been cases where they try to bring in someone's net surfing habits as "evidence". One guy accused of pedophilia, and was found innocent, had a prosecutor try to say that his always following online news stories of some young actress was proof he was too interested in young girls...

Usually they use the records on the PC itself. If it really makes you nervous, I'd recommend using something like Stealthier for Firefox
