713 has not changed at all since last Jinpei was here. The place is still mostly unaltered wild lands, and the usual life, all of it non-sentient, still made its rounds and did their thing. In the forested area Jinpei walked now, a pair of white-tailed doe looked up from their grazing and watched him curiously. 713 had never seen the touch of man until recently; the animals have no idea that man is a predator to be feared. The does don;t even flinch even though Jinpei could easily reach out to touch them before they could bolt

The people of East Pakistan pride themselves as the greatest cooks on Earth. Jinpei has a made a study of such things. The goat of the sea, that is the turtle, merits a certain delicacy as it is delicay of incomparable meat so cunningly defended

The Apache never gets close enough to seriously consider doing harm to it, as if the pilot is well aware that there just may be something on the ground that could do it damage. It finishes its round of the area, hovering near the spot where Jinpei is for several moments before pulling higher into the sky--far enough to become a little more than a speck before disappearing completely.
Shortly there-after the area itself is lit up by scanning lazer light, racing across the ground in a grid-like pattern like a net closing on fish.
It remains quiet as Jinpei checks the area out. The current denizens of the base seem content to remain where they are, hidden in the ground. It's some time before anything changes at all, and when it does, it's spectacular.
He sees the puff of smoke first, across the field, issuing from one of the seams in the ground. It's followed by a sudden rumble, and then the muffled sound of an explosion. A hole opens up where the smoke is--the base has suddenly been breached.
He can hear Charley's computerized voice over the sudden sound of fire and explosion, informing the people inside of the danger.
And a dark shape suddenly parts from the trees nearby, headed for the breach at a crouching run.
The shape is quick--it swerves to try and avoid the shuriken. But it doesn't have the speed for it, nor does it seem to possess any senses such as that which grace Jinpei's brother-in-law.
Two of the shuriken hit, and the man snarls, drawing his gun and firing wildly.
It's just a ruse to keep Jinpei away until he can wiggle inside the breach.
The Swallow throws the shuriken for distraction. The bolos he aimed at what he figured were the quick shape's legs weren't. As for bullets, Jinpei performs a complex dance as he advances. The next set of shuriken he throws aren't meant to distract.

Three shuriken are embed themselves in the dark shape's target branch. Jinpei barrels towards the dark shape.
