I'm kind of glad I heard about MJ in person and not while scanning RSS news feeds. I'm still processing.

It was a shock. I just turned on the TV for a minute, they were saying he was in a coma, then they announced that he was dead. Talented man, sad life :-(. I do hope both he and Farrah have found peace.

I also hope he found peace. That was my first thought.

I always had the impression he was deeply messed up and very tortured inside (I also think the whole family is incredibly messed up). I became a fan of his when he was already the butt of the joke (late 1990s; kinda late for my age group). His was my first online fandom. I stopped being an obsessive fan after a few years, and pretty much stopped following him.

What a day.

I've been rewatching some of his old videos that are being broadcast...well, pretty much everywhere...and it's impressive how well they stand the test of time. Wonderful dancing, superb use of what was then a new media, and use of technology to enhance the story-telling rather than just go for the "gee whiz!"

I think he was horribly taken advantage of by bloodsuckers his entire life. Maybe that explains some of his unhealthy fascination with children, as less likely to have agendas (if you ignore their parents).

True. I think Michael was the biggest shock though. Farrah had been gravely ill for some time, Ed was getting on, but the last I'd heard about Michael was that he was working on getting in shape for a tour.

That and he's younger than me =8-(
