Ooh, sounds scrummy! :-D Man, I wish I had a reason to do that sort of sewing! I'm longing for it, and have no reason to do any of it.

No, wait! Maybe I could justify it.. Matt's movie premiere requested formal attire, which could totally mean a fun new dress, right? Mmmm, yeah. I like that reasoning :)

Ooh. Could you take a look at it? I'd be interested in hearing what it's like.

Thanks for taking a look for me! I figure it doesn't hurt to send her a few things and try it out for awhile and see what happens. ;-)

Wow! I can't wait to start seeing your dresses around Gettysburg! Is there any opportunity for you to sew for Abraham's Lady? They need some new dresses. Recently they've had more and more farby stuff. Ugh. Especially the headwear. =( They did have a few of Beth Miller's dresses. That dress inspiration is really fun! Good luck with it! :)

I haven't talked with Abraham's Lady about selling some of my items on consignment, but that might not be a bad idea to look into when I'm in need of more work. Although my ready-made section online is looking rather thin these days! I wish I had more time to build that up.

I respectfully have to take exception to Lolocat's characterization of La Belle Femme. Lolocat makes some sweeping statements about "Bad headwear, bad shoes, bad jewerly(sic)" without saying specifically what she found to be wrong with anything. Also, I took the time to get to know the young lady running the store, and after asking her a few questions about some of her items which she answered knowledgeably and correctly (IMHO)discovered she has a Masters Degree in History. Personally, I feel that Lolocat's statement about "Farbiness oozing from the walls" was linked more to her disclaimer that she was friends with Mrs. Mellie, the previous proprietress who had to give up the business. La Belle Femme has documentation for most of its wares, and carries such items as Marta Vincent Parasols, Pam Robles and A Bonnet Venture handmade Bonnets. It is a beautifully decorated little shop (probably due to the real estate costs of Gettysburgs Steinwehr ave location) with nice displays of period correct underpinnings and well made dresses.
