One book I have read lately is worth a mention here. This is 'a change of environment' by Robert Edward Bridge.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book, and how it kept me reading. This is an account of becoming a patient while a teenager in New Zealand, in a high security mental hospital, with almost no hope of release.
