Are they rechargeable batteries, or standard Alkaline that you put in there? I've had my flash refuse to work with a set of newly charged rechargeables before.

Either way - good luck - hopefully you can get that fixed.

Garden variety throw-away batteries. They all test out at 1.6-ish volts.
