I dropped my car off with the mechanic last night to have the brakes done, and to see what is causing the vibration issues.  While there, he took a quick look at the strut mounts in the front of the van.  The verdict is that it will most likely make it through this coming winter, but that's it.  The van has 156,000 miles on it now.  It's had a good ( Read more... )

My Daddy told me today that my great uncle passed away on Friday at the age of 90.  The funeral is on Thursday in Maryland.  Uncle Babe (that's what we all called him) was always larger than life to me.  I remember being a child and thinking he was a giant, as he was so tall.  His late wife, Cecile, was a nurse and an influence on my decision to ( Read more... )

Tonight brute_farce and I are taking my nephews to the Pawtucket Red Sox home opener.  I'm so excited about this!!!  I'm sharing something I love with 3 of my special guys!!!

I'm leaving work in 15minutes, then it's home, run the dishwasher and clean up a little, then off to get the boys!

This trip to NC was what we needed.  We spent time with brute_farce 's family, and it was wonderful again this year!  His brother wants us to come back in October.  We're thinking if we have a reliable car we might drive down.  We're going to look into it.  If we do, it will be without the kids, since Boo doesn't do well on long car trips.

I had Saturday off this past weekend, for which I was grateful.  Friday night we got together with some friends for dinner at our place, and a rousing game of Monopoly!  I hadn't played that in forever, and we had a blast for the most part.  We called it about 1am, and I was nowhere near the winner.

The temperatures have been gorgeous the last few days.  The sun shining after all the rain and flooding.  I'm told that tomorrow may reach as high a 80!  And I will be working all weekend at the EMT gig, so it won't be so bad!  I will actually get away with not having to wear my jacket most of the day ( Read more... )

So yesterday I get told that my sister's father-in-law has two blocked arteries.  They were going to do a bypass, but then did something else and he is supposed to come home today.  This doesn't seem right to me, but I am not a doctor.
