Tumblr Masterpost Jack awoke the next morning, head throbbing with memories from the night before. His arm was clutched around Rian's waist, chest pressed against the older boy's back. A small smile tugged at his lips as the raven haired boy buried his head into the crook of Rian's neck, pecking lightly at the skin. Jack liked waking up with Rian on his side, it was something new and refreshing to him. Of course, he loved waking up to Alex too, but for some reason, Jack got tired of the same old routine. He needed a new rush of excitement in his life, and he just happened to find it with Rian. It wasn't like Jack intended to cheat on Alex, but after one too many beers, a few round of shots, and one game of spin the bottle, it ended up happening. Jack knew it was wrong, and he knew it was wrong to keep it from Alex, but something inside his brain never thought it was the right time to tell him. In fact, Jack hadn't even told Alex the real reason he had broke up with him. He simply stated that he 'needed time to focus on himself, before he can focus on anyone else'. It was definitely a lie on his part, seeing that he was already, and had been focusing all his attention to Rian for the past two months.
Sighing, Jack slipped his arm off of Rian's torso, pressing small kisses to his collar bone. His hand trailed down the boys arm, rubbing the skin gently with his finger tips. "Baby, wake up." Jack whispered against the boy's neck, before pressing another batch of kisses to his skin. Jack felt Rian's body shutter underneath him, a small groan forming in the back of his throat. Jack smiled lightly, before sitting himself up on the bed. He knew Rian would eventually wake up, so he had enough time to get a shower in and maybe make some coffee, if Rian hadn't already done so.
Jack walked into the small bathroom of Rian's apartment, turning the water on after he closed the door behind him. As he waited for the water to warm up, Jack couldn't help but think about how guilty he should be for doing Alex wrong. He knew what he had done was fucked up, and he definitely knew that Alex deserved to know the truth, but it was hard for Jack. He loved Alex, and he would do anything for the older boy, anyone could see that. Sometimes though, Jack had gotten sick of how caring and nurturing Lex had been to him (he was almost motherly-like). I think that's what threw Jack into the direction of Rian; he cared, but not too much. He never nagged, never once complained about Jack still being with Alex, because he knew how hard it was on the younger boy to try to even explain what was going on. It should have been easy though, all he had to do was sit Alex down, and tell him he cheated. How hard could it be, right?
Jack sighed, stripping every article of clothing to the floor, then stepped into the shower one foot at a time. It took a second for his body to adjust to the heat radiating out of the water, but once it did, he finally felt himself relax. It would be a complete lie to himself if Jack said he didn't feel bad about what he had done, because he did. He felt terrible, really, but Rian made him happy. Happier then he has been in a while, and it was hard for himself to even admit at first. Alex made Jack happy too, in ways Rian hasn't been able to yet. It was like both boys were complete opposites in each other, and Jack found compfort and love within both. And although Jack loved Alex, he couldn't keep seeing Rian behind his back. It wasn't fair to the older boy, and it wasn't fair to Rian either. But for some reason, despite everything Jack had been through with Alex, his heart (or mind) told him to settle with Rian.
After he was done cleaning himself, Jack shut the water off, walking into the new ice age as he pulled the shower curtain back. He wrapped a towel around his waist, grabbing his clothes off of the bathroom floor, bundling them up into a ball underneath his arm. Opening the door, he walked back into Rian's bedroom, bed empty. The smell of fresh coffee filled the house, so Jack knew exactly where the boy was. Sighing, Jack changed back into the clothes he wore the night before, making a mental note to change as soon as he had gotten the chance (smelling like alcohol and cigarettes wasn't always attractive).
Jack found himself in the kitchen, smiling slightly when he saw Rian. Wrapping his arms around the older boys waist, Jack pressed a small kiss to the crook of his neck before slipping his arms away. "Morning," he sat down on one of the bar stools next to the kitchen counter, grabbing one of the two coffee mugs set out in front of him. Curling his lips around the edge of the cup, Jack took a sip, regretting it instantly when the hot liquid burned his tongue. "Shit," Jack yelled a bit loudly as he set the cup down.
"It's hot," Rian laughed, pouring a few spoon fulls of sugar into his own cup. His eyes wandered up and down Jack's body, stopping at his face.
"No shit," Jack stated, laughing along with him. He tried to ignore the fact that Rian was staring basically into his soul, but it was fucking hard. He had always hated it when people stared, especially if it were someone he knew. Sighing, Jack folded his arms across his chest, looking back at the older boy. "What?"
"Nothing.." Rian stated, picking his cup off of the counter.
"Bullshit. What's wrong?" Jack asked, leaning forward in his seat as Rian took a sip from his mug.
"It's really nothing, Jack." Rian assured him, setting his cup back down on the counter. "I just..I wanted to know why you came last night..."
"Because I wanted to see you. Why else would I come?"
"Well, you usually come when something happens with Alex.." Rian pointed out, and Jack couldn't deny that that was the truth. Okay, so every time he and Alex had fought, he did go over to Rian's. At first, Jack had used Rian as an escape from his problems with Alex, and Jack felt bad about that, but eventually, Jack kept coming back because Rian gave Jack something Alex didn't have to offer. Okay, that sounds shallow, even to Jack. But that's not what he meant, not really.
Sighing, Jack ran a hand through his damp hair, scratching at the scalp for a moment before bringing his eyes to meet Rian's. "I broke up with him." He finally broke his gaze, staring down at the counter top. It kind of hurt admitting that he had broken up with the older boy, because it really meant Alex wouldn't be around to lighten up his day when he needed it. Jack knew everything that came along with the friendship he and Alex shared would be gone at this point, and that's what hurt him the most. There was silence from across the counter, which Jack took as a bad sign. Actually, he had no fucking clue how to take it. He expected Rian to be happier about it, because it would have given him the chance to be with the younger boy for real, without going behind Alex's back.
"Really?"
