We have decided that renting a van to move our stuff over to France is an expensive logistical nightmare. We are off to Preston car auctions tomorrow to buy a van. The post office are doing a special auction to get rid of the ex contract vehicles. All we need now is a black and white cat.

Full report on your return pls e.g. are these auctions good & do they do them in London etc...

It's Manheim auctions. I used to use them to dispose of old lease vehicles. They are a chain and no doubt have one in London - try their website http://www.manheimeurope.com/ The main drawback is that you have to view on the morning of the auction and you can't test drive either. On the upside you should get a newer car for the money.
