Heh. I definitely chose the right sport, especially this week when I was fencing one of the teenage boys to 7 points and came back from 6-4 down to beat him. He was not impressed. ;)

I've decided to do foil for at least a year and then look at starting épée, but I'm putting off learning sabre. That seems to involve too much jumping around.

That's pretty impressive! And yes, we also say 'veteran' over here for over 40's though I'm a long way from having to worry about terminology for competitions, I think.

Well done with the fencing! I always had a ton of pinpoint bruises down my left side when I was fencing. Freaked out the Sweetie when we started dating.

And congrats on the pay rise. At least that's a good sort of work surprise.

It seems to be mostly lower body for me - though I did have a cracker on the inside elbow of my non-sword arm a few weeks back, after an inaccurate lunge on the part of my teenage opponent missed my torso and kept going.
