not sure if anyone is reading this. i've been here for a long time, but in a real enough capacity to make talking about mental and food stuff impossible. at the moment, however, those bits - the mental food bits - are pretty much all-consuming. so i am undercover. i'm also rather paranoid about the internet and people stalking me, so at no point ( Read more... )

Enduring love is a fantastic book. Have you read any other Ian McEwan?

i haven't read any other ian mcewan... are there any you would particularly recommend? he writes with such great detail, but it never makes the story drag. really talented...

I really liked Saturday. People rave about Atonement, and it is very good but took me a while to get into. I'm currently reading a book of short stories by him called "first love, last rites" which are excellent, but very dark. His first novel, "the Cement Garden" is similar. I've also read some of the other later novels, but they all tend to follow a similar formula which gets boring - don't read them all one after the other!
