Today Florenci and I went to Barcelona to get stabbed full of holes...

However, given the area we're going to, the length of time we'll be there and the circumstances in which we'll be sleeping, eating etc, we were told that we only required shots for Typhoid Fever and Hepatitis A (which I may or may not have had already but the doctor said better safe than sorry, as having it again won't hurt ( Read more... )

The wedding's not till January 2nd but we're leaving here on December 29th, so we can get there a few days early and recover from the flights, acclimatize, practise sari draping... ;D

We'll leave again on January 18th, so we'll only be there for about 3 weeks in total.

Ooh sounds like fun.... hope the shots aren't too painful! Well despite such unpleasantness hopefully you are getting really excited about your trip :D :D Ooh ooh do you think you might have time while you're there to send me a postcard??

Ah olvidé otra vez escribir en castellano :) Perdón!!!! Bueno..

Me recomendarías?

Arrrgh, the number of errors in that - worst of all, they're all stupid oversights or typos, not stuff I don't know!

'por en absoluto' was a result of me not completely deleting the incorrect 'por nada' that I had there before. ;D

Oh well...

Oh, by the way, forgot to say: The Book Depository ship all around the world, FOR FREE, and apparently there are no entry taxes to pay if you're part of the EU. Of course, Switzerland isn't, so I guess you may have to but, still, no shipping fees from The Book Depository, on top of taxes, at least!

What it is is laziness!

I don't know, given that everyone theorizes that The Lord of the Rings was originally supposed to be an allegory of what was going on at the time it was written (I'0m not enough of a Tolkien geek to know if he said this himself or if it's just theory), I can see why he'd have done it that way.
But does everyone else have to copy his every damned move?!

I'd just like to see the effort put in to think up some other kinds of races, a bit more often, you know?
I'm not saying it's never done, juts that this cliché seems to be the standard, in high fantasy.

r.e. Guy Gavriel Kay, the only work of his that I've ever read (and, in fact, own) is The Fionavar Tapestry, which I actually really enjoyed - not the least because he produced more than just the typical 'chosen one' type and because he managed to successfully (in my opinion) pull off a series with multiple protagonists.

Hah!
You'll be lucky!

When are you coming over?
We're pretty flat-out between now and then but if youo let me know your plans, we might be able to arrange something.
