I've participated in it!
I can never get over the juxtaposition of the childrens' sweet caring and kindness towards el Tío for several days beforehand and then beating the heck out of it on the day!
Though nobody's 100% sure, the theory is that it probably originated as a kind of fertility celebration.
These days, though, the Tío seems to be depositing less in the way of dried fruits, turrons etc and more in the way of PSP games etc...
We finally got agreement from Florenci's ex to retire the practice with his kids this year (the sticking point up till now having been his daughter, who refused to give it up. But she's TEN now, for crying out loud - enough already!)

She has...issues facing up to reality a lot of the time and it's somethinhg that could easily get out of hand.
Already does, in fact, when it comes to her taking responsibility for things.

r.e. Kraftwerk: I'd heard of them but never actually listened to any of their work before I met Florenci.
He's an uber fan, though, so I had no choice but to become familiar with them. I actually really like some of their stuff, though some of it I'm not too fussed with.
Which track(s) were you listening to in class?

But, anyway, I find it relaxing (even when I'm just practising a character repeatedly) and I love making the ink from the blocks!
