Oh yes, I always intended to keep living here, for now at least. It simply isn't viable to go to all of the places I want to go, do all of the things I want to do etc, from New Zealand.
I just really wanted to see my family and friends for a bit, after 4 years. *sigh*
The problem was getting into Heathrow, to catch my connecting flight to NZ. Air NZ only flies into Heathrow, in Europe, and we all know how it's going there, at the moment. Unfortunately, between Air NZ's other flights being booked out and not being able to get hold of British Airways (after trying literally all day, in an attempt to get to London, I had to cancel. Going after Christmas is not viable, as it will cut too much out of my trip, which would have been tight for time (in terms of seeing all of my family and friends) anyway.
At this stage, it looks as though I'm entitled to a full refund, so fingers crossed.
Oh boo! Was looking forward to seeing you. Guessing it's the lack of short-haul flights that was the problem, as Air NZ's flights out of Heathrow were all running quite well yesterday. But yes, you will get your money back - they were offering full refunds to everyone cancelling regardless of what kind of ticket they were on.
And some poor stranded traveller would have been given your seat (hopefully - there were empty seats on my flight which I was quite shocked about).

So, I take it that for now at least you plan to continue living in Europe?

Does 'weather' mean you're snowed in as well?
