Friday: Woke up in the night, checked about having Latin as a side subject, but it sad, that persons were required to have Latin on an A level on this course. Well, in that case, bye bye Latin classes. Sevi had suggested we meet on ICQ around 16:30 (her time, 15:30 my time) this day, but as I planned to try a Latin language class (just to see how ( Read more... )

"University of Southern Denmark" (english introduction: www.sdu.dk/indexE.html)

It's not that big actually, but it is very beaurocratic (sp?) and no one knows who has the responsibility for what.

No modern university regards education and research as primary responsibilities.

My old flatmate was a botany student doing his MSc. One day his supervisor came to his lab and told him he needed to see Jim in his office right away. They walked in silence back to his supervisor's office.

The supervisor asked Jim to shut the door and sit down. When Jim was seated his supervisor produced a large envelope from his desk drawer, handed it to Jim, and asked him to open it.

"Isn't that the biggest bud you've ever seen?" he asked.

Do you mean Latin language or literature? I did Latin for four years at high school and I enjoyed it until it got too hard and other things in my life became more important. The Latin languge is beautiful and there are good reasons why the literature is called 'classical.'

I always think of Latin when I use Linux - which I don't get to do often enough.

It is actually a course in both things. The people who started this summer, will get both latin and greek language lessions (unless they already have an A level in it (meaning they would have had to study both languages seperately for 3 three before it), and teachings in arkeology and the writings of the likes of Tacitus.

whereas I am a person who uses the internet over a cell phone, Sevi is the opposite. Always clinged to her cell. So, apart from chatting with friends (mainly me) when there's a break at her work, and checking her mail and some information on rare occasions, then she doesn't really use it. And certainly the idea of this sort of place where you talk with people you haven't meet in real world, disgusts her. So, I don't really talk about these things to her. But she does know, that I have people on the internet I talk to, and I showed her the icon that "represents me" (ie. the one with us holding hands (as also seen above here)), and she liked that icon, but everything else was mystique and stupid waste of time to her.

So, to answer your question, no, she doesn't read it.
