Successful toy hunt! I haven't done one of these with photos in a while, so here goes...
Target had 3 new Sigma 6 figs: Desert Gear Long Range ("Don't call me 'Dusty'!"), Night Ops Snake Eyes (um, can we say "redundant"?), and Firefly. I didn't notice until I got home that Firefly is a Joe now. WTF?!? I was really excited to hear my favorite Cobra sabatour was getting the Sigma 6 treatment, but to find out it's not even the same guy AND he's a Joe??? Disappointment. Oh well, I guess that makes up for the fact that he doesn't look anything like Firefly and has a goofy hockey-goalie mask.
At Toys'R'Us I by-passed Metroplex again. I just don't feel like slapping down $50 at this point. But deep in the back I found a Soundwave, so I just had to get that one. Soundwave is pretty cool, and I like the way his weapons and Laserbeak work. The one weird thing is that his legs have an extra joint that allows them to splay just a bit. You know, like a girl. I'm thinking this Soundwave plays for the other team, if you know what I mean.
Finally, I found the new Marvel Legends Icons figs. They had Iron Man, Captain America, unmasked varient Wolverine, and unmasked varient Captain America. I collect toys, but I don't collect them to sell later, so I wasn't interested in the varient figs. Though, if they had the gold Iron Man varient, I would have picked that one up. Instead, I just came away with the regular Iron Man and Cap A. Iron Man is an exact scaled-up duplicate of the Ultimate Iron Man fig. Unfortunately, that just emphasizes that this is anorexia Iron Man (he's so skinny!). He also came with two repulsor beams that can be attached to his palms (the smaller version didn't come with these), but his wrists can't bend back due to the shape of his gloves, rendering these pieces useless. The Captain is a hybrid of Ultimate Cap and the more traditional Cap. He's got the detailed chainmail and wrinkles in his pants like Ultimate Cap, but has the red boots and wings on his mask like the regular version. His sheild even has both the double straps and the wrist clip, so he can clip it to his wrist, strap it to his wrist, or strap it to his back. Both figs are nicely detailed (and the unmasked varients also looked good).
Here's the haul:
Here's the Icons figs compared to the normal size Legends equivalents:
(I wonder if they'll release the even smaller Super Hero Showdown figs of this style Cap and Iron Man.)
