When people started talking about how in the future, we'll just download plans for the things we want to buy, then print them ourselves, I used to think "nah, we'll never get to that stage". Rapid prototyping machines are AWESOME. I remember reading somewhere about an effort to design a plan for an RPM that could be made by other RPMs. You would buy the circuitry and the plan, and any other RPM would build the rest of the machine. That machine would then be able to copy itself as long as ya had the electronics to put in it.

Only twenty grand for the 8x10x8 model. That's plenty large for doing action figures. I won't be buying one anytime soon, but I can see it going on The List of any lottery-winning toy enthusiast.
