Well folks, everything is going pretty well in the desert. I got a new car, new kittens, and am enjoying a lovely 3 day weekend thanks to "Nevada Day." I haven't... it was stolen today right out from in front of me.  They seriously stole it while I was there... scariest thing ever.

So the first thing I heard this morning after waking up at 5:30 was the sound of gunshots.  They were pretty close, and trust me, you can't mistake them for a car or door slamming---definitely gun shots.

You know what's different down here than in IL?  In IL, I would tell people something like, "I take 74 to get to work every day" or "If you want to get to chicago, take 55 North."  But down here, the Interstates are so important, they get the word the in front of them.  "If you want to avoid traffic on The 215, take a detour on The 95 North and ( Read more... )

So Ben and I went to our first Vegas show this weekend.  His professor got 12 free tickets to see Blue Man Group at the Venetian and gave two of them to us! It was a good show, but I heard they were $100 tickets... Well, we finally made it to Las Vegas.  From what I hear, we have it better down here in the desert than you all in the midwest and northeast.  We left last Sunday around 2:00 and stopped that night in Lincoln, Nebraska around 10.  My car was making a weird (and loud) squeaking noise, so the next morning we took it to a mechanic where they told us ( Read more... )
