Hey. I'll take you up on this. I want you to do that whole thing with my car console/audio jack/power thing you talked about when installing my XM. Thing is, I didn't understand what parts you were talking about when you explained it. It'd be easier if you went ahead and picked up the parts (I think you said less than $20), and I'll reimburse you when you get here. This Saturday would work for me. Let me know if you remember what I'm talking about, and what would be a good time.
no problem. this is something i can do in your driveway so you dont even have to bring it up to work. ill get the part you need and we can work out the details.
Hey G! I'll probably have you take a look at my Accord next time I'm in town-- My brakes have been squealy, and if you end up seeing that the pads need to be replaced, you're my man! :)
awesome. typically two things cause brakes to squeal:
1. they are down to the squealers. these are little tabs of metal that stick out about 1 mil from the bottom of the pad. basically the sound means you have less than 5-10% life on them before you run out of brake compound and hit steel. steel to steel is bad because it will cause tons of damage to your pocket book in parts alone. 5-10% boils down to about 3k miles or so depending on your driving.
2. pads are dirty. they just need a little brake clean shot on them and they are good to go.
normally rears last about 80k miles, fronts 40k. if its been that long (or you are hitting that millage) a brake job man ensue. also, not trying to scare ya. just inform. i tend to over explain things to people who really dont care, but i want you to know why i recommend something.
cool i told ya about the struts. if they said they are leaking, they are most likely blown. normal time on them is about 1-2 hours per corner, but if you have more than one busted ill cut ya a deal.
brakes they may be talking about turning the rotors and keeping the pads. DONT do this. if you turn the rotors, replace the pads. as long as they are in good shape you really dont need to do anything unless you just want to get rid of the noise. ill check em out the same time i look at your struts.
My parents have my truck and are trying to get a couple of things fixed. If they don't, I'll definitely keep you in mind.
By the way, if you'd like to get together sometime, I'd enjoy buying you dinner somewhere since I haven't seen you in person in so long. I'll be free from Friday night on (got plans Wed. and Thur. evenings).
I actually met Graham and knew who he was for the first time on April 6, 1996 at David Peery's party, but he was likely at Nathan Hanish's halloween party on October 27, 1995, but that was the first time I'd met his large group of friends, so everyone was new to me then. I don't think I've seen Graham in person since late 1998 or early 1999 when he delivered a pizza to my house when I was having a movie night with a group of friends. So yeah, it's been 9 or 10 years. I have good memories of him from seeing him at all the get-togethers during the 1996-1998 period (the last of which was Josh Rufer's 4th of July party in 1998). It's one reason it'd be cool to see him in person again. It's interesting how my life memories end up being disjoint sets of things from different periods with little crosstalk between them.
wow. you really do know all the people I know in hsv.... I met Graham through Jason Danzby and Steve Peterson and Tim (wow, can't believe I have forgotten his last name). Through them I met, Josh Eric Graham Doc Erwin, etc.... Those were my peeps through high school and I'm still very close with Doc, Steve and Erwin. And btw, I was at several of josh's 4th of july parties! :)
hey, I will actually pass this info on to my dad. He is working on a Dodge Stealth... I want it done for when I come home for x-mas so I can drive it :) Anyways.... I'll actually just repost this on my journal so my friends there, not on your list, will see this. Good luck!
