This has been a weekend of Rock Band and Doctor Who. Rediscovered my love of bass in the former. Lots of sets played. I enjoy Gimme Shelter more as Bill Wyman than as Charlie Watts. I've been playing that game for 18 months and I'm still not done with it. It rekindled my love of music in a number of ways, too ( Read more... )

I really thought Donna was the best companion with regards to providing a proper foil to Ten's hyperactivity. She just seemed to work well to bring him a bit more down to earth. She was practical when he was flighty. She was an anchor that he desperately needed and I was sorely disappointed that she didn't continue through more than one series--granted she'd probably have been something of a mismatch to Eleven....

Have you caught the five special episodes detailing the completion of Ten's storyline? I believe they're out on DVD now. Something to tide you over until Eleven's story begins?

No, I didn't know about that. Not sure if I want to pay $35 for basically 3 episodes, but we shall see.

I do have Torchwood series 2 to watch although it was somewhat spoiled by the Who 2-parter.

Yes, the market has changed a great deal around the industry. 1995/1996 were great years for music though - at least the kinds of music I like - whereas recent years not so much. The music biz seems to be like a fault zone; static then pressure builds up and an earthquake rearranges things. It's due for another, I think. Some companies are more flexible than others. Warner, for example, is very inflexible.

Rock Band has introduced me to a number of new bands, but on balance I would say Q magazine has introduced me to more.
