Tomorrow, Monday 25th October, is the 11th anniversary of Williams shutting down its pinball division - that was also a Monday. I remember it every year but this year is especially poignant for me because I recently went through a very similar situation ( Read more... )

No. Currently I'm spending time learning new things (Japanese and Mac programming mainly) so I have a wider skill set. I'm not in any danger.

Oh good. I spent my unemployment time resolving to go to the gym and read Lord Of The Rings - and instead spent most of it playing Civ4...

It's hard to believe that it's been that long since Williams ended what I still think was the greatest time in pinball history. Has it really been 11 years? I remember being in Chicago and touring the manufacturing facilities during one of the expos late in the game, when Star Wars: Episode 1 was the big new release and we were all clamoring to play Big Bang Bar. You never can predict the future, I guess.

I'm sorry to hear about your latest journey ending. It sounds like you made the most of it though and that's the way it should be. In any case, welcome back to the gamer side. We have a lot of fun over here. :)

Indeed you cannot predict the future. By the way, did you know Williams was making a WPC version of Big Bang Bar? I had the rules almost all done when they decided to drop it and then I moved on to Pin2000 instead.

I never did make it to Lucky Juju. It's been a good while since I was able to drive.

I am definitely planning to stay in the bay area for a bunch of reasons. I like being here a lot.
