Today I'm off to join the filming of a feature film called "Congoro" out in the pine forest near Wanneroo.

They're hoping to get 150 re-enactors there for some kind of major battle scene. I'll be amazed if they get more than 50. Still, its a free lunch and it promises to be quite a fun day!

They ended up with about 60-70 fighters out there - some twenty or so were extras in sack cloth and borrowed armour. The "thank you" we recieved later claimed we had twice that number of extras. My guess is that they were counting all the support staff and friends as well.

From the SCA there was myself, Donchaird, Conan and a lass from the Shire of Bosenberg whose name, alas, escapes me. Alot of fun was had despite the rain.

As things wore on before lunch, people started to get tired and weapons started breaking. There were a few injuries too but nothing serious. I found that standing around in the rain in armour was causing my shoulders/back to freeze up and didn't stay after lunch.

Apparently the movie is actually going to be released in the cinemas. Woohoo!

Battle Scene - Congoro

I also was part of that Battle Scene amoungst the Pine Trees.

It was an amazing experience dressed in Potato Bags, getting drenched with rain and feeling every cold minute.

I just loved the last bit, running in full costume and being told, "You Looked Fantastic" I reallly took my part seriously and had heaps of fun.

I'd do it all over again, hoping that the sun was shining, just a little bit more..
I also loved the Pizza - I ate so many pieces and it was hot, not bad for a day in the rain.
