"Mister Mystery's Late Recital" and the word is "Triangle"
With a flair of the wrists the master of ceremony rang the metal triangle he held. On normal circumstances, such a small and delicate sound wouldn’t really hold the attention of a large crowd. But slowly and in a ripple effect, the attendees paid attention. At first just a few people in the first row turned their heads, but before the whole audience knew what had happened or what held their attention, they had all turned forward and were rapturously and eagerly watching the every move of the man ringing the musical triangle.
“Ladies and gentlemen” the master of ceremony said, dramatically, “Tonight you will witness events that will astonish you, perhaps even scare you. But please have no fear. Mister Mystery is a dedicated professional and none of you face real danger, even if reality is flexible. Mister Mystery stands at the edge of his craft, quite literally.”
With a flourish of his arms, the master of ceremony pointed everyone’s attention towards a flood light near the roof of the circus top, and with that movement his own light was extinguished.
There, standing in the nearly blinding white floodlight, was a man dressed all in back, wearing a top hat and a smile. He stood on the edge of a giant scimitar, holding a shiny apple. Bowing, he dropped the apple on the edge of the scimitar he stood on, splitting it cleanly down its middle while at the same time he broke into song.
