Sometimes you may need to ramp up into it. Try taking it slow at first, maybe working in small aspects of it, and then building up to final work. Where are you right now in terms of work? Sometimes it's hard to work until it's closer to the final date. Is there anything else that's stressing you out? You may need to resolve another issue before you have the headspace to start.
It also may just be the finality of it all that's getting to you. Your thesis is an incredibly stressful thing to work on. Is there someone who has been in the same situation that you can talk about this with?
:/ i hate when that happens. when is your thesis due? do you have time to perhaps take a break from it and work on something else or perhaps to get out and do something you enjoy or to relax? sometimes taking a small break from something will not only refresh you but may also help the "best answer/method" become more clear. also sometimes these times can help inspire you as well.
If you don't have much time to do that, then perhaps do the part of your thesis that you're more certain and looking forward to than the others and perhaps that will help get the ball rolling...or perhaps start with the shorter/easier tasks first (other things you need to complete other than the thesis) and once you get a few things off your list, perhaps your motivation will return? (at least that's what works for me sometimes)
Good luck! Hang in there! <3 (PS...I know you've posted your stories a few entries back and I promise I'll get to reading them soon and leave you feedback! *hugs*)
Certainly, I've been trying to do that. Sort of stick to the parts I know I can get done "quickly" but of course they are taking me too long and holding me back from the harder parts that would make it seem like I actually got something done.
So, I'm not sure what to do. I suspect I should tackle both at the same time. Now that I have gotten ahead with the straightforward part, maybe I'll start working on the hard bits and work in tandem.
Yeah, definitely working in tandem may help break things up and keep things fresh.
I run into the same thing sometimes not only when writing but also when studying and find that it works out better when I try to mix things up a bit by using different sources or studying different topics if i get "bored" with one.
when do you need to present your thesis? Maybe what you can do is list how many weeks you have left, then partition what you can get done with what time is available. So in essense, every week accomplish one bit of the project so it doesn't seem so overwhelming. I think the biggest hurdle is just getting things started and organized (at least for me it is).
If you want, my break is starting soon. We can have weekly art meetings (forces me to write or draw something too haha) and share?
Certainly. I've actually been considering whether or not it would be better for me to get out of the house to get things done. Been considering hitting the library and sitting there with my laptop and external hard drive and just work. Often I do better when I have benign distractions, like white noise (my mom and step dad want my attention, and are too direct a distraction).
Weekly meetings might be a good idea. Just to see if that kick starts something more fruitful.
I'm certainly up for weekly meetings if you are ok with that :-) Also I always get out of the house nowadays bc staying home causes me to become an inanimate slug watching daytime tv. It's odd how your discipline goes out the door when you are too comfortable. I think getting out to the library will help; plus hilliard library is wonderful.

many of the people who are also graduating now are feeling all listless, and discouraged too. Funny thing...
