Osama Bin Laden is dead. People are celebrating at the White House. The mere fact that you're reading this means you have access to the internet and probably know all that already. I feel that people in the US fearing another terrorist attack is damaging the US democracy. I remember the constant vague terrorist threats that were never realized, and people with assault rifles "protecting" Wall Street. The government was using people's fear to invade foreign countries and spy on it's citizens using the Echelon program. I think people need to get over this fear in order for a US to have a proper democracy, however, I also hope Obama scores some points with the electorate as a result of Bin Laden's death.

I feel very complex about it. My father worked in the building across from the trade center. He saw it come down in front of his eyes. His building was badly damaged and had to come down eventually. All of the pictures I drew him for his office were destroyed. I grew up going to work with him and going to the trade center to go into the border's. It was very different from me to experience all of this.

However, someone close to me pointed out, Osama was a very troubled and misguided individual. It was his religious belief that killing people is normal. And yet, we celebrate his death? It just seems wrong. I can never forgive him for putting America through that, but he was a human too....after all.
