Awful Green Things

A few weeks ago I was putting a puzzle together with the kids when Roger v7.6 reached over and picked something off my game bookshelf. Hurrah for gaming with the littles!

Over the 4th of July weekend, my husband ran a fisher price dungeons and dragons game for his 7 year old nephews (I take full credit for the idea). The boys constantly had their own ideas of how the game would go and Seeth went along with every one of them, as long as it could fit within the rules (the rules: everyone gets a turn. You can move, and do one other thing. You succeed in an action if you roll a 10 or better, which we modified as they found magic items). I followed along as a leader-healer type.

They loved it and spent the rest of the trip talking about the game. And they absolutely floored Seeth: in the final showdown, halfway through the battle, they asked the evil witch why she had stolen their magic dogs. When she told them she was lonely, they told her to keep one of the dogs as long as she stopped attacking the village. At seven years old! When their answer to everything involved a sword or fireball!

...Seeth spent the rest of the trip talking about the game too.
