were you turning off "Elf" or "Ricky Martin's Assapalooza"? Young children have surprisingly bad taste. The younger they are, the worse their taste (teen movies? no quality, "tween" movies? give me a handgun and some alone time with the DVD).
Want to be more evil? Put in Barney. Humiliate one sibling and terrify the other.
I was rather suspicious of this when she wanted to watch "Sleepover" and "Ella Enchanted" after the evening episode of "Roseanne" had ended. I'm caught between polar preferences in this household. One wants to watch "American Idol" and "Twenty-Four," while the other insists on "Metilda" and any movie with Hillary Duff or Lindsay Lohan in it. I've just decided to give up and buy her "Crossroads" and "A Walk to Remember" for her next birthday.
I can only hope that they develop better taste by summer. Here's hoping!
