I love Apples

I also love cardgames and boardgames, and I've been introduced to a new one called "Apples and Apples" (or is it Apples to Apples- I wish I had the box in front of me, but I guess it doesn't matter that much). It's hilarious, despite being susceptable to puns. The concept is fairly simple, hands are dealt out of 7 red apple cards each for any number of players (it's a big deck that easily deal many hands). These cards all have nouns written on them. Turns consist of drawing from the green apple deck, which are adjectives. A judge draws one green card and collects one red card from all other players and hears their arguments for their selection. The goal is to find the most applicable noun to the adjective, determined by the judge (who is free to be as corrupt as they want, as long as it's funny). Actually the judge can keep it secret, but the openess is where the fun comes from. If you feel you have a particularly bad hand, you're free to skip your turn by discarding all of it and drawing another 7 cards. Every player gets a chance to be a judge in rotation until one player manages to win 7 green cards(this game really likes that number for some reason)- or what ever number it assigns based on the number of players. There are optional rules to speed up play if it gets bogged down.

Anywho, the game can get pretty silly when played with good friends. Case in point, space pirates trump ninjas. There's a chance it'll be pulled out tomorrow at the Eve celebration on Needham, but I make no threats or promises. Happy New Year's to all the people who'll be at Windsor, you're all welcome to stop in at the Hub if you feel like it.
