Draco offered his hand in friendship to Harry on the train, this was changed in the film version.
(SS, US hardcover, chap six, page 108)

Draco was told by his father to be friends with Harry. Can't recall exactly where, but I DO remember it.

Really, I know this post has many discrepancies to it. I wrote it about a year ago and posted it at ARF way back then. There are a few things that I want to comment on that are in this post. I just needed to post this first, then I'll add more later when I get the comments to it all typed up. I'm still going through old stuff right now. Doing some more sorting... Back then I didn't always go for particular book quotes, as you so pointed out. I held more to memory that is also a failing. Thanks I forgot about the train. I'm more pinpointing things down now a days. I'm still determined to figure out as much as I can what Rowling might put in her last book.

Still, I want so much to hear comments, they help refine this obsession I'm in.

I really don't think that Draco is weaker than his father. In some ways he is stronger. Didn't DD say about Neville, sometimes it is harder to stand up to your friends than your enemies ( ... )
