Then yet again, its like a mass military stress release, a situation where the enemy is clearly defined, and the Army, Air Force, Nay and Marines can just go in and bulldoze the entire city down. Its a chance for the US military to prove its worth again, after several debacles following their swift victory in the opening months of the war. Its especially big for the Army, its a chance to prve that they've modernized after their strategic and tactical errors in Hue and Moghandishu. On the other hand, you could say that this is back to the day of "To save the town, we had to destroy it". And people were wondering why we were still obesessed with Vietnam this summer...

"To save the town, we had to destroy it."

Could probably be used to sum up this entire damn fool war. I'm reminded of Jacob's entry on ideological intervention.

And if I were to write an opinion editorial, what do you think it should be about. I'm tempted to talk about politics, but that takes serious effort for me to write a good political argument. If I were to complain about something random (like, oh, the degradation of the English language caused by "IM speak"), it'd take a lot less time and be a lot more fun. Still, I'm always drawn to politics, for some reason.
