A few quick definitions!Wiki! [ Personality ] :
Despite Yevon excommunicating her, Yuna still has a very pious nature at her core. She's humble, respectful of her elders, and extremely aware of her place as a figurehead of peace within Spira. There's no doubt that she genuinely cares about the people of her world. When she speaks, she tends to be very articulate as if she's thought carefully about what she planned to say. Of course, her quietness can be shaken out of her by a strong emotion. Still, she grapples with being polite and being honest.
But don't let her humility fool you. Underneath her all of her kindness and compassion lies a quiet, unshakeable strength. She is an extremely driven young woman with a resolve that others have considered noteworthy throughout the game. On one hand, it's a blessing; she's determined to finish anything she starts as successfully as she can. On the other, this one track-mindedness has made it very difficult to dissuade her from doing anything she hasn't set her heart to, even if its dangerous. Fortunately, she usually tries to set her heart to things she honestly believes will be good for everyone.
This being said, Yuna is also incredibly innocent. Not in the way that would lead her to be a fainting damsel in distress, but she does believe in the good in people before anything else, which in turn leads to trusting people that she shouldn't. Similarly, while she can hold information like a lock box, she's also a terrible liar. The closer she is to someone, the harder it is for her to lie. But she'll carry her secrets and plans alone (until they unravel against her will).
This isn't to say that Yuna doesn't have fun. She's learns at an early age the importance of smiling and how that affects a world whose inhabitants live in constant fear of death. She wants her pilgrimage to be full of laughter, living each day to the fullest because she does believe she will die. Even while holding that heavy burden, she at times allows herself to act like a normal teenager, teasing and sometimes being apart of good-natured pranks.
She's naive, serious to a fault, a natural burden carrier, selfless, and sometimes too trustworthy. For this, she at times makes the wrong choices and allows herself to be deceived due of her kind nature. On the other hand, she's determined, a skilled planner, but a little reckless when emotions get the best of her. Still, Yuna has learned to trust in all of her actions fully and has vowed to live with no regrets.
[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
Yuna's desire to end suffering for the people of Spira serves as both a strength and a weakness. She cares so deeply that she's willing to sacrifice her life for them. To be able to do that, she's has to be quite strong mentally and emotionally. But what is good for everyone isn't necessarily what's good for Yuna. She has difficulty doing the things she might personally enjoy because she's empathizes deeply with everyone else's struggles. She continually worries about other people whose needs always come before her own.
Physically, Yuna remains one of the weakest amongst her guardians throughout her pilgrimage. However, she makes up for it by being the pillar of support as a white mage. All of her spells are defensive save for one, Holy, which is her last and most devastating attack. However, this spell is just out of her reach at this point in her journey. The rest are variations of healing spells, in particular Cure, Protect (temporary shield), Esuna (removes most status ailments), NulElement (nullifies an attack by a certain element), Reflect (temporarily reflects spells back to the caster), and Life (revives an unconscious member). She also can Pray to raise the health of her party slightly.
As a summoner, Yuna has the ability to summon aeons, guardian spirits that take the form of summoned beasts on the battlefield. These creatures all vary in size, shape, and attack style, but all of them are far larger than the average person. These aeons are all different. Some reflect elements, such as Ifrit to fire, Ixion to lightning, and Shiva to ice. Some are 'normal based' and use energy attacks, like Valefor and Bahamut. In order to defeat Sin, she is told that she needs all five. Fortunately, she has five, as she recently obtained Bahamut. Unfortunately, this ability is defunct while she resides in Vatheon, as she summons them from “somewhere” outside the fishbowl.
Yuna's second duty as a summoner is to perform the sending. When people die in Spira, their souls have one of two (normal) options: To go to the Farplane where they will be at (assumed) peace or to stay on Spira and become a fiend, creatures that attack the living. In order to prevent the latter, summoners guide the deceased to the Farplane through a ritual spiraling dance. Usually, the sending is done with a staff, the weapon of choice for all summoners (as it doubles as a summoning rod). But, during certain occasions, just like with summoning, summoners have sent without it. Similarly, the dearly departed that have accepted death during life have been strong enough to send themselves to the Farplane.
(The unnormal option is to stay as an unsent, which is much like a solid ghost. But this is so unnatural, most people don't even know about it. They too, however, can be sent with a sending.)
[ Other Important Facts ] :
Due to her dual heritage, Yuna also has
heterochromia. [ Sample ] :
[The SFC switches on, revealing Yuna cradling it in her palms similarly to the way one would hold something fragile. While she's still in her wedding gown, she's removed all the clips from her hair including the tiny tiara.]
I was told that this...ah... device can connect me to anyone. I hope I'm doing this right. It's a little like a sphere, I suppose.
[Yuna looks away from the screen for a long moment and lowers the SFC a bit. When she does speak again, it's soft and more to herself than to anyone else.]
This place... Vatheon. This is really a world without Sin, isn't it?
I never thought I...
[She falls silent, slowly contemplating what that really means. A world without Sin didn't mean world without fear, but without the threat. The constant cycle of death. In a blink of an eye, it was all over.
But this wasn't Spira, or at least not any part of Spira she'd either travelled to or heard of. And so, as far as she knew somewhere Sin was still out there, striking fear into the hearts of the people. Her guardians, wherever they were, were sure to be searching for her after all that has happened. To think that she was some place they wouldn't be able to reach her...
And Lord Seymour, still lurking in the shadows of Yevon, roaming around as an unsent with but a handful of people knowing the truth.
With each passing moment, the guilt of not being home builds up inside of her. She bows her head away from the SFC momentarily, gathering her words again.
And now, there's a sense of urgency in her voice that wasn't present before.]
This world isn't my world. This water isn't my ocean. And while I'm grateful for all I could have here, it's.... It's just...
[She shakes her head solumnly]
I can't stay. I have to go back. There's something very important that I must do. And there are a lot of people depending on me.
So please, if there's a way to leave this world, anyway at all, I need to know.
I have to go.
And another post from Yuna. She's taken from her sequel game here, but she lost her memories. And she's learning to live in the world she's been thrown into.
