“You have to admit, it is an ingenious spin on the muggle Vicar and Tarts party theme,” Hermione murmured as she took in the vision of her husband.

“Nrrrgh, Hermione I am dressed like the Muggle film pirate Jack f’ing Sparrow.”

“Mmmm, but you look so damn edible. Promise me we can leave early tonight, please.”

“Damn Malfoy and his New Year Party theme Pirates vs Ninja’s, whatever the fool is taking they clearly aren’t strong enough.”

“Come on Jack,” Hermione smirked as she led her husband from their room to the Apparition point. “We have a party to attend.”

The pathway from the Apparation point was lit with evenly spaced burning torches, the usually quiet night time air was pierced by the calls of the Malfoy’s white peacocks and the live band that Narcissa had insisted Lucius hire for the evenings entertainment.

Severus and Hermione were greeted by a smiling Lucius. “Kangei,” Lucius greeted as he bowed.

“I take it from your appearance that you are a Ninja then, Malfoy. This is beyond foolish; your latest medication obviously isn’t strong enough.”

“Still a sourpuss then, Severus I had thought marriage to Miss Granger might have improved your temperament somewhat.”

****

“I think it is entirely appropriate that you come attired as Captain Sparrow, Severus,” Lucius teased. “Hermione looks divine as Elizabeth, you best watch Potter he has come as Will Turner.”

“I have every faith that my wife will resist the dubious charms of the Boy-Who-Lives-To-Annoy-Me,” Severus growled taking a glass of champagne from a passing waiter. “Passable, Malfoy but not quite up to your usual high standards.”

“Care to join me later for Cognac and a cigar in the drawing room?”

“I have promised Hermione that we will see in the New Year and then we shall return home.”

The evening passed painfully slowly for Severus. Hermione was enjoying socialising and Severus was bemused by the fact that everyone his wife spoke with was eager to look at both her engagement ring and wedding band.

Severus approached his wife, sliding an arm around her waist he spoke to the group of witches around his wife, “I hope you ladies don’t mind, but I am going to take my wife for a quick pass around the dance floor.”

Hermione giggled as Severus led her to the dance floor. “Tell me husband,” Hermione whispered. “What do you think of Pomona’s costume?”

As Severus turned to face his wife their attention was diverted from one another as the air was pierced by a loud shriek. Turning to face the buffet table Hermione giggled as her eyes fell upon Narcissa Malfoy who now appeared to be decorated with cream.

“Oh my, I pity the poor individual who caused that,” Hermione whispered.

“Indeed,” Severus nodded in the direction of Neville and Luna Longbottom.

Hermione looked across as Neville and Luna just as a handful of cake sailed towards the daydreaming Ravenclaw.

All hell broke loose as Pirates and Ninjas formed teams and food flew.

“Well that was a Malfoy party that won’t be forgotten in a hurry,” Hermione murmured as she magical removed the make-up from her face.

“Indeed, it will no doubt be spoken of for many years to come.”

“You know, you really do look rather sexy dressed like that,” Hermione winked wickedly as she led Severus through to their bedroom. Pushing him down on the bed she grinned as she smiled cockishly at her husband, “permission to come aboard Captain?”

Severus signalled for Hermione to sit on his lap. Hermione smiled lasciviously.

“Merlin, Hermione...” Severus moaned as Hermione moved against his hip.
