makes me so angry.

Well done love, rape victims have enough trouble reporting the crime and standing up to their attacker(s) without giving more ammunition to the 'cry wolf' issue.

Ugh.

I get really annoyed at the media for reporting these sorts of cases - only about 1.6% of reported rapes turn out to be fake - for comparison, about 2.6% of reported vehicle thefts turn out to be fake - so loudly. It does nothing to fight the stereotype that every other reported case is false. I'd like to throttle both the reporters and the woman.

Did you see the one about 6 months ago where a woman was threatened by her ex and his family into retracting her accusation, and when she got away from them and told the police what happened...they jailed her for 3 months for wasting police time. *headdesk headdesk headdesk*

I loathe this sort of thing too. An accusation of rape is a heavy burden to place on someone if they are not guilty, it's not something that can be shook off merely by a judge saying the guy isn't guilty, it just doesn't wash with everyone. All this wasted time and effort could have been better spent on some actual crimes!
