Cashback Credit Cards

Ilpala and I mourned the loss of our snazzy black Morgan Stanley credit cards when they decided to pass them over to *spits* BarclayCard, and recently BarclayCard have announced they are cutting much of the cashback the card offers.

Looking around it seems that credit cards have gotten stingier, with 0% deals still flying around but little to entice those of us who pay the balance off in full every month.

There seems to be a few options considering that I refuse point blank to touch American Express due to their high retailer fees and that cards that do 'offers' such as the First Direct one I used to have seem solely focused on selling me cases of wine which I don't want.

Egg Money- 1% cashback but 12 annual fee, extra offers.
Virgin Charity- 0.8% cashback, extra offers.
Capital One World- 1% cashback, £18 annual fee, £10 rebate per year (so £8 annual fee).

Yes yes yes I'm one of those boring people that scrutinises all the current accounts, utility companies, and is a general rate tart. It probably saves me about £100 per year which is not good value for the time I put in but hey ho. Some people need to go back into the house as the towel may not be straight on the rail, I stare at various deals as if some day there'll be a magical offer that instantly makes me wealthy and smug. Hey ho.

I'm not keen on Egg as they've dicked people around in the last few years, including cancelling the credit cards of people that never missed a payment (some of them were millionaires)

Virgin don't have a great customer service reputation and the cashback doesn't work out as well once you hit £500 a month or more, but I don't want to encourage card fees and a branch of Virgin did supply us with the EuroCosplay prize...

Capital ... on the surface looks the best but the small print on the £10 back is probably a doozy and I don't want to be dicked around if the fees or rebate gets adjusted.

Hmmmm. Okay, I'll stop boring you now.
