Oh god. You'd think doctors would be a little less ignorant, given that they encounter so many different people. Maybe they work such long hours that they don't have time to develop normal human relationships where they learn what is and is not appropriate.

I've always appreciated being able to be completely straight (you know what I mean) with doctors and get straight answers when solicited.

You didn't go in saying 'I've been putting dirty old socks up my bum, is this OK', so he didn't need to answer the question, did he?

Hopefully he's just being misguided and thinks he's doing the right thing, but christ...
