Even though I am COMPLETELY pooped, things are going well this week. One thing: I have a date tomorrow night with a former police officer (he was retired for medical reasons). His name is Gene, he is a big guy, and we are going out to Ruby Tuesday in Woodland at 7pm. Get that info, everyone? I want to make sure everyone knows where I am going ( Read more... )

With weddings, it's really hard to shoot manual all the time since you have to move around so much to different lighting situations. When I first began shooting with Susan, she taught me to shoot aperture priority because you still get to have control over depth of field, but the camera helps you get the proper exposure. I would switch to manual if the situation called for it (ie, silhouettes and other special lighting situations). I don't want to miss a shot just because I was too busy trying to get the exposure correct. So when I am rushing around in the middle of a wedding, I shoot aperture priority.

HOWEVER, I have been practicing shooting manually on all of my small sessions, and I have been really happy with the results. So who knows? Maybe in September, all of my weddings will be fully manual. :-)

try it!!! i know what you're talking about obviously, but i've still always shot on manual. it's not that hard once you get used to it and you don't even have to do "test shots" after a while. most times i can bust out my camera and dial up my settings to the right combo of iso, f and shutter speed w/o testing things. and if not, i'm pretty close!!! i shot on av with my old G2 point and shoot that i had before i got a digital slr and i loved it since it would go down to a 2.0, but since i don't have any L lenses that allow a good range there to open up nice and wide, i went manual almost immediately! i don't find that the camera ever comes up with a ratio i like. they're always too dark for me! but maybe with your pretty lens things are different haha! but yaay! it's good to be able to utilize all the functions if they work for you!!!
