[From the journal system comes the voice of a rather angry young lady. Her words are clipped, English, though her German accent is a little more prominent than usual.]

This is a sick fucking joke, isn't it. First it's a boat, then a stupid island and now, a castle. My God the creativity is just skyrocketing today.

[That is some delicious monotone ( Read more... )

weird shit is being fucking weird, this isn't funny, what the crap is going on

[What a curious name. Not as strange as others, but still, definitely unique. Bryn is a little intimidated, but it's her accent that draws Bryn into replying.]

Wh-who are you looking for, exactly?

[With even more hesitance, Bryn adds in German.]

Perhaps I have heard their name?

[Bryn smiles as well, glad to give the other woman something to be happy about in these strange and unsettling circumstances.]

Do you mean others who woke up here? There are many other guests...

Yes, the others. Probably taken from all over the place too.

The note said something about 'staff'. What are they like?

Yes, many of them seem to be from all sorts of places. As for the staff, well...

[Bryn's tone warms somewhat.]

Those that I've had the opportunity to get to know are quite welcoming and pleasant...oh, but you must not get into any fights here or damage the property. They're very, very severe on people for things like that and their methods are quite...archaic.

[She hears that warmth. Grapple tilts her head to the side and stares at the book.]

...Color me curious. What exactly do they do?

[Grapple's seen some pretty insane punishments in her time.]

[She pauses before starting hesitantly.]

They didn't tell us their rules about violence before...two people attacked each other I suppose and there was a trial by combat. To the death. We later learned that it was...not permanent and she didn't have to kill him, but it was still set up.

And recently there were three people put in the stocks...two of them were whipped badly. It broke the skin...

You can't hurt other people or the Keep or they'll punish you, okay?

Shit.

That's a rule I've seen a few times now. Thanks for the heads up.

And... sorry for dishing you all the hard questions.

Precisely.

It's fine though. I'd rather people know the full extent than be surprised later. There is no escaping or preventing Deior's "justice" unfortunately.

[Bryn's seen both public punishments. One way or another, the guilty parties were punished, and their friends were prevented from stopping or averting said punishment.]
