Hindsight is Always 20/20: The 95 Best Albums of 2008 (yes, really) and the 5 Most Disappointing

Jan 03, 2010 15:04

Um, I'm kind of embarrassed about this, really. I'm pretty sure the calendar reads 2010 right now and here I am doing a year end list featuring a few albums that literally came out almost TWO years ago. But after I collected and listened to 100 albums throughout that whole year, I wasn't about to let this whole thing slip by. I know there will be ( Read more... )

It is truly sad what Common has fallen from... I listened to a couple of songs from the album after reading this and you're so right; he is always sounding off the beat no matter what. Pharell completely overproduced this album as well, I want another song like "Testify" or (despite many fans disliking Electric Circus) "New Wave."
When I come home I definitely would like to hear some of New Age or Little Jackie (they are impossible to find online here!) :)
I love countdowns so much, :)

My relationship with the Neptunes as producers is very similar to mine with Will.i.am: half the time they surprise me and half the time I can't take it.
I think you'd like the two you mentioned. With Little Jackie you really just need one song and you have them all :)

I used to be such a diehard lover of the Neptunes and now I agree completely with you about them. Can't wait to listen to music with you when I get home!

Did you know that Common was in the latest installment of the Terminator series? I watched it this weekend with my family (I haven't seen any of the previous ones so I was severly confused until I wiki'd the plotline...) and was amused that he was in it.
The cover of the Saturdays' album alone makes me want to listen to it---even though it's rather high (or low? Depending on your view of it) on your countdown, I just like the colors!!! haha. I knew you were going to mention the period line from Janet. Oh Janet. Yay Countdowns!

I didn't hear good things about T4. Don't let it cloud your judgment of the first two!!! Him being in it makes me even less likely to get around to it.
I feel the same way about The Saturdays. They already have a second album and the cover is even better. Seriously, go google "Wordshaker."
The album's not bad either. There are moments I enjoy on 99 out of 100 of these albums

No, T4 was not good. I didn't expect it to be either, considering I didn't even know that there was a 4th one until it came home from Hollywood Video. I only watched it because of our new HUGE tv and blu-ray player. That alone made it decent to watch if only because of how the effects/clarity looked. But yes, its not worth watching. I should watch the other two though. (Side note---I have Quantum of Solace from Netflix right now...wanna watch it together some night this week?)

OMG! I love that second cover even more!!!! Tyra should take shoot ideas from them for top model.
