Resumés on portfolio websites

I was just wondering if it's "better" to provide a download link to your resumé on your portfolio website.  A lot of my friends who are designers provide one, but I'm not a big fan of my phone number being available to anyone with an internet connection.  Plus I personally don't see the need for it since all of my experience is pretty much listed ( Read more... )

If you have your experience/education/special skills/whatever on your website, then I think the resume is redundant. There are more creative and simpler ways to provide people with that information.

Just don't put your phone number on the web version of your resume.

Funny enough I am WAY more comfortable with my phone number being on my website than my resume, to be honest. The worst someone can do is write my number on a bathroom wall or something. With a resume they know where I worked (and likely who I worked with), and that leaves one wide open to social hacking. I've got my portfolio and qualifications, blog, and if they want more info they can ask. Your work should speak for itself.

I have put my phone number on my website, but I never had any abusers of it on the phone. It's been there for a year so I can surely say that it isn't a bad thing :).

The only reason I would see it being useful is for printing. Maybe provide a printable version of the information already available on the site?
