Welcome to Graphics by Mandy. For some very important info, please read the userinfo! I hope everyone likes my graphics, and please comment! :)
Also, in my memories you can find tutorials that I've found useful. The list will grow as I continue making icons. All of them are using Photoshop 7 and a few inclue ImageReady 7.
If you want to begin making icons:
[x] Photoshop and PaintShopPro are best. Do not use Paint. A good way to get one of these programs is to go to Ebay. You can find some Ebay etiquette at my LiveJournal here.
[x] After you get the software you want to use, get a tutor from this list. They're really helpful!
[x] Experiment...don't do the same type of icon over and over. Try using tutorials, such as the ones on icon_tutorial or in my memories.
[x] Don't limit yourself to what's already included in your software! Use brushes (100x100_brushes, Brush Help 1 [Photoshop 5 and 6], Brush Help 2 [Photoshop 7]) for example.
[x] Be as creative and original as you can. Don't do the same thing that a hundred people have already done. A lot of icon-making is trial and error. You have the make mistakes in order to learn how to fix them and make them better.
[x] Finally, it's helpful to get feedback on your icons. Try going to icon_feedback and posting an icon or two. They're really strict, but most of them aren't trying to be bitchy, they're trying to help. And don't get mad is someone says something bad about your icon...same as with fanfic.
