Dean was woken up by a familiar hand on his shoulder.

“Cas?” he mumbled as he turned over and opened his eyes to see the angel sat on the edge of his bed looking down at him.

“Merry Christmas, Dean,” replied Castiel.

“Yeah, you too,” said a not yet awake Dean as he rubbed his eyes. He noticed Castiel was holding a tray. “What’s that?” he asked.

“Breakfast. In bed,” said Castiel pushing the tray towards Dean.

Dean sat up and took the tray. “What time is it?” he asked.

“7.45 AM. Sam and Bobby are still asleep,” replied Castiel as he looked away from Dean. Dean was thankful he had waited until a reasonable time to wake him.

“Dude, you didn’t,” said Dean wondering if Castiel had used his powers to make sure that they weren’t disturbed.

“I made toast and coffee. I know it’s not much, but it’s all I could do,” replied Castiel, avoiding Dean’s question.

“Hey, it’s great, really. Thank you, Cas.” Dean put a hand on Castiel’s shoulder as if to reassure him.

“I have a present which I will give you later.”

“You shouldn’t have, really.”

Dean started eating the toast and looked at Castiel.

“Cas, you could at least take your coat off. We don’t wear coats indoors,” said Dean.
Castiel did as Dean told him and took off his coat.

“And the jacket and tie. It’s Christmas, you can dress down a bit.”

Castiel took off his jacket and tie setting them down.

“That’s better, now come and sit with me,” said Dean indicating the space next to him on the bed.

As Castiel sat on the bed, Dean held out the plate to him, offering him toast. “Go on, you made it. It’s good really,” said Dean encouraging him. Castiel started to eat the toast and Dean smiled at him.

“So you’ll eat Christmas dinner later then?” he asked. “I know you don’t actually need to eat and all, but you’ll like it, especially as I’m cooking,” said Dean with a grin.

“Yes I will eat your Christmas dinner,” replied Castiel, a bit apprehensive as to what Dean’s Christmas dinner would actually taste like.

“Good,” replied Dean as continued eating the toast.

They sat in comfortable silence until Dean had finished and set down the tray beside the bed.

“You ok?” Dean asked Castiel, breaking the silence.

“I am fine,” replied Castiel, although Dean wasn’t convinced.

“You miss it don’t you, heaven I mean?” asked Dean tentatively.

“Yes,” replied Castiel as he looked down at the floor avoiding eye contact with Dean.

Dean put his arm around Castiel who rested his head on Dean’s shoulder.

“I’m sorry I know it’s not easy for you, but I’m glad you’re here,” said Dean trying to comfort him.

“Me too, Dean. Yes, I do miss heaven, but my place is here now. And heaven isn’t...well he isn’t...”

“Yeah I know, but don’t give up on finding him ok?”

“I won’t.”

“You do still have the amulet?” said Dean looking down at Castiel, being unable to see it through his shirt.

“Of course.”

“Then show me.”

Castiel sat up and unbuttoned the top two buttons of his shirt. He pulled out the amulet and showed it to Dean.

Dean grabbed the amulet and Castiel’s hand at the same time. The two men looked intently at each other for a moment.

“Nothing yet?” said Dean as he continued to hold onto Castiel’s hand.

“No, nothing.”

“Never mind,” said Dean as he tucked the amulet back inside Castiel’s shirt, his hands skimming his bare chest as he did so. Dean quickly removed his hand and rebuttoned the shirt.

“I hope someday I can give this back this to you,” said Castiel.

“Yeah, me too. Listen, thanks for the breakfast, Cas. I appreciate it.”

“I am pleased you liked it.”

“Ok, I should probably get dressed,” said Dean as he moved to get out of bed.

“Dean, wait,” said Castiel as he put a hand on Dean’s arm.

“What?”

“I believe it is customary to thank someone who gives you something or does something nice for you in a certain way. Someone close to you I mean.”

Dean was a little taken aback by Castiel’s outburst and wasn’t sure he understood him.

“Cas, what do you mean? Thank them in what way?”

“With a kiss,” said Castiel as he looked down, a little embarrassed.

“You want me to kiss you?” said Dean in surprise.

“I’m sorry I should not have said anything,” replied Castiel, turning away thinking Dean would not want it.

“Cas, you only had to ask,” said Dean who put his hand up to Castiel’s face to turn his head back towards him, and leaned in and kissed him.

Castiel was shocked at first but soon responded and followed Dean’s lead. Dean put his arms around him and pulled him in closer. The kiss grew more passionate and continued for a short time before they were interrupted.

“Hey Dean, you up yet,” called Sam from outside.

Dean clamped a hand over Castiel’s mouth to keep him silent, not that he needed to.

“Yes, I’m getting up, be down in a minute ok?” replied Dean.

When Sam was gone, Dean removed his hand from Castiel’s mouth. “We’ll continue this later, I need to get dressed now,” he told the angel as he got out of the bed.

“I look forward to it,” replied Castiel as he watched Dean walk across the room in only his boxers as he removed his tshirt.

“Hold those thoughts until later, ok?” replied Dean, sensing that the angel was watching him. When he turned around, Castiel had gone.

Christmas dinner went smoothly. Dean had been glad of the distraction cooking Christmas dinner provided. It stopped him from thinking about the kiss he and Castiel had shared that morning and when they’d be able to continue where they’d left off.

Fortunately he didn’t have to wait long. After they’d had dinner and presents had been exchanged, Sam and Bobby were in front of the TV watching some old film. Both seemed to be falling asleep, Dean observed. He went into the kitchen and found himself alone with Castiel.

“I have another present for you, but I wanted to give it to you alone,” said Castiel.

“Oh really,” said Dean with a grin. “Perhaps we should go someplace more private then.”

“Yes I think that would be a good idea,” replied Castiel with a small smile.

“Upstairs?” said Dean as he left the kitchen motioning for Castiel to follow him.

When they were in the bedroom, Dean sat on the bed and Castiel sat next to him.

“So what’ve you got me then?” asked Dean.

Castiel retrieved his coat from where he’d left it earlier, reached inside it and pulled out something in his hand, before sitting back down on the bed.

“I know you miss your amulet, so I got you another one. It’s almost exactly the same,” he said as he held out the amulet to a surprised Dean.

“Cas, you shouldn’t have. Where did you get this?” said a stunned Dean.

“Egypt,” replied Castiel as he handed the amulet to Dean.

“You went to all that trouble for me?” said Dean as he examined the amulet. “It’s beautiful. Thank you, Cas.”

“May I?” said Castiel as he took the amulet for Dean, indicating that he wanted to put it on him.

“Please.”

Castiel hooked it around Dean’s neck and his hands lingered there.

“That definitely deserves a kiss,” said Dean as he leaned forward and kissed Castiel.

“Wait,” said Castiel as he pulled away from Dean.

“What? Oh good thinking,” said Dean as he watched Castiel put his hand up and lock the door.

“Now we won’t be disturbed,” replied Castiel as he pushed Dean onto the bed and climbed on top of him.

“Easy tiger,” said Dean as he’d forgotten just how strong Castiel was and struggled under his bodyweight. “Could you just shift over a bit?”

“Of course, sorry,” said Castiel as he moved off Dean.

“Thanks,” said Dean before he put his hand on the back of Castiel’s neck and pulled him down into a kiss.

The kissing quickly grew more passionate and Dean started to undo Castiel’s shirt buttons. At the same time Castiel slid his hand under Dean’s shirt.

Dean had managed to turn Castiel onto his back and was kissing his was down his neck as he undid his shirt buttons. However no sooner had he got to the last few buttons when he was stopped by a noise coming from downstairs.

“What the hell?” said Dean as he almost jumped up from the bed.

“I think it’s just Sam,” said Castiel as he got up.

“Still, we should check it out,” said Dean as he walked towards the door.

“Yes.”

Castiel followed Dean down the stairs and they were greeted by the site of Sam attempting to sweep up broken glass and liquid from the kitchen floor.

“Sam, what are you doing?” said an annoyed Dean as he looked down at his brother crouched on the floor.

“I knocked a glass over, that’s all,” replied Sam looking up at Dean. “Sorry, did I disturb you?” he said as he noticed his brother’s dishevelled appearance. Then he noticed Castiel’s shirt was undone. “OK, don’t answer that,” he said as he finished clearing up the mess and got up.

“Of course you didn’t disturb us,” said Dean as he attempted to straighten his clothing and indicated to Castiel to do his shirt up.

“Fine, whatever,” said Sam smiling as he disposed of the broken glass. “Guys, I think we should clear up in here,” said Sam indicating the pile of dishes and the general state of the kitchen. “While Bobby’s asleep.”

“Yeah, I suppose we should,” said a reluctant Dean looking apologetically at Castiel.

As the three of them started to clear up the kitchen, and Sam was doing the dishes, Dean stood next to Castiel and whispered to him, “We’ll finish what we started later, ok?”

Castiel merely nodded and wondered if they would indeed ever get to finish what they’d started.

The rest of the day passed by and Dean and Castiel had had no time to themselves. Bobby had got them either going through some old books or telling stories, and Dean felt like he couldn’t just up and leave, no matter how much he wanted to be alone with Castiel. Dean drunk more and more because of this and when he finally went up to bed he went straight to sleep much to Castiel’s disappointment.

The next day Dean woke up with a headache and no Castiel. He sat up in bed and tried to wake himself up. Just as he was about to get up to go to the bathroom, Castiel walked in.

“Hello, Dean,” he said as he walked towards him.

“Cas, where you been?” said Dean as he got up and kissed the angel hard, not noticing that Sam was stood behind him.

“Uh, Dean?” said Sam, trying not to look at Dean kissing Castiel. Dean immediately stepped back and glared at his brother. “You heard of knocking?”

“I so did not need to see that,” said Sam as he stepped forward. “I brought you some coffee, figured you could use it after last night.”

“Thanks,” said Dean as he took the mug of coffee from Sam. “Look, you know that...”

“Dean, it’s fine. You think I haven’t noticed what’s been going on between you two? Seriously dude, it’s cool.”

“But there’s nothing going on between us, well there wasn’t until yesterday,” said Dean as he grinned at Castiel.

“We were interrupted by...” said Castiel.

“Yeah, ok, spare me the details,” said an uncomfortable looking Sam.

“Right that is it. You and I are getting out of here today,” said Dean as he looked at Castiel. “We’re going somewhere where we won’t get interrupted.”

“I think this is a good idea, Dean,” replied Castiel.

“Yeah I think it’s a good idea too. Least then I don’t have to watch you two having staring contests,” said Sam as he walked towards the door.

“We do not have staring contests,” protested Dean.

“Of course not. Don’t hurry back!” said Sam as he left the room.

“So where shall we go?” said Dean as he sat back down on the bed and drunk the coffee.

“I know a place, wait here,” said Castiel who then vanished before Dean could stop him.

“Dammit, Cas,” he said to the now empty room.

A short time later, Dean came out of the bathroom and found Castiel waiting for him in the bedroom.

“Where did you go?” asked Dean.

“I have found somewhere for us to go,” replied Castiel.

“Oh yeah, where?” said Dean apprehensively, wondering where Castiel could have found them so quickly and hoping it wasn’t like the abandoned house they’d used during the encounter with Raphael.

Before Dean knew what was happening, he suddenly found himself in a bedroom in a house he’d never seen before.

“Cas, where are we?”

“A house not far away. It has been empty for some time.”

Dean looked around. It was a nice big bedroom in a large house. He looked out of the window and saw nothing but fields and trees.

“Um, Cas are you sure about this, it’s still someone else’s house right?”

“The house is up for sale. The owners vacated the property recently. We can be sure of not being interrupted,” said Castiel simply as he took his coat and jacket off. Dean didn’t ask how Castiel had found the house or knew about it, but he decided it was good enough for him.

“Ok, fine,” said Dean as he pulled his shoes off and lay down on the bed. “So are we going to...pick up where we left off?” he said looking at Castiel who was taking his tie off.

“Yes,” replied Castiel who started unbuttoning his shirt and taking it off, putting it on a nearby chair.

“Oh, Cas,” said Dean enjoying the sight of the now half naked angel in front of him.

“Come here,” he said as he reached out and pulled Castiel on to the bed.

Dean pulled his own shirt off and wrapped his arms around Castiel, kissing him hard.

“Yes, Dean,” cried Castiel as Dean buried his head in the angel’s neck and ran his hand up his chest.

Dean then pulled Castiel down on top of him and enjoyed the feel of skin against skin.

“You need to be naked now,” said Dean as he started to undo Castiel’s belt. Castiel could only watch as Dean helped remove his remaining clothes and also took off the rest of his own.

The two of them fell onto the bed together and what followed was a rushed and clumsy attempt at sex. It was over quickly. Much to Dean’s surprise, Castiel had got very excited and enthusiastic about what they were doing and Dean found this a huge turn on.

When it was over, Dean went to the bathroom and came back with some tissue to clean them up. Castiel was lying on the bed watching Dean.

“You ok?” asked Dean as he stroked Castiel’s arm.

“Yes. I just....I.....” Castiel couldn’t put into words how he was feeling, it was new and overwhelming to him.

“I know this is new to you and it must feel a bit strange, but it was good right?” asked Dean.

“Yes it was very good, Dean,” replied Castiel with a smile.

Dean leaned forward and kissed Castiel. “Good. You know that I’ve never, I mean I’ve never been with a guy before.”

“I know,” said Castiel as he put a hand on Dean’s arm. “It doesn’t matter. I believe that...practice makes perfect as you might say.”

Dean laughed. “Cas, you’re learning. But I think you’re right. We could definitely use more practice, lots of practice.”

“I’d like that,” said Castiel before surprising Dean by kissing him hard.

“We don’t have to rush back or anything, do we?” said Dean as he hooked an arm around Castiel, pulling him in closer and looking into his eyes.

“No, we don’t. I believe we have all day,” replied Castiel not taking his eyes off Dean.

“Good, because I have something else I want to give you,” said Dean as he practically jumped onto Castiel and pinned him down to the bed.

“Another present?” asked Castiel as he looked up at Dean. Dean simply smiled and moved down the bed, leaving Castiel to think this indeed was the best Christmas present he could have.
