Oh yeah, there's lots of them! The students are not allowed to dye or curl their hair, wear makeup, or bring cell phones to school. You can really easily tell who the rebels are by looking for those things. Also they like to sit around at the base of the stairs and chat instead of going to class, and if they do go to class, they randomly wander in and out. Japanese schools are very very low on discipline, so they get away with it. Also, in Japanese society in general, piercings of any kind are strongly frowned on. But one or two of the brat pack girls at my school occasionally wear hoop earings, and it creates quite a sensation! I like those girls. :-)
wow, you have groupies, that is quite amazing. How are you going to survive when you come back to the states and no longer have your screaming fan club?
Ahem. Do you remember Nan-posse? I'm not sure if we knew each other during that time in highschool. But I think when I come back, a reunion is in order. Then I'll have my fanclub back! ;-)
i do remember your nan-posse but i though that was more of a group collaberation (sp?), this sounds more like idol worship. So do they go all out for halloween in japan or is it mainly an american thing. If they do go all out for halloween what are you going to be?
Mostly Halloween is just a commercial/seasonal thing. The stores put up Halloween decorations and Baskin Robins get its Halloween flavors in. But most people don't really know what it is. It's just a trendy western holiday. Not unlike Christmas really. But people who are friends with foreigners dress up in costume and go to our Halloween parties, which are a pretty big thing! I went to two this weekend, and dressed up as a bellydancer. I love seeing Japanese guys in costume because a good percentage of them think it's an excellent opportunity to cross-dress, and skinny little Japanese guys already look so much like girls that it's really really hard to tell the difference if they're wearing makeup and a sexy dress! Soooo funny.

I laughed at your description of the "Hoochie Mama". I didn't know Japanese girls could be as such.
