How generic? Crystal Farms Generic? Or "Spreadable Cheese Food" generic?

It was Cub's generic brand, on sale for $4.47, not far from the name brand stuff at $6.47. I think it said "processed cheese spread".

Kind of you to offer, Chris, but I think we have enough for today's needs. It's getting melted down for a batch of queso dip. A can of Hormel chili (meatless) will be added, and that will be that.

I might sneak in a small can of fire-roasted green chiles, we'll see.

I've been watching Good Eats for many years now, learning the science and history of good food, and Alton Brown has inspired me many times to take some time and some ingredients and come up with something really nice.

Well, I don't have the time, and I definitely don't have the money for some of the ingredients that would make up a fondue that Mr. Brown would approve of. No fontina today, no brie. No fermented cider to keep all the protein strings from clumping together too much. No hand-clipped chili peppers to roast then pulverize.

Today it will be a can of Hormel and a box of stuff that's cheaper than Velveeta.
