Anyone heard any bad stories about Asus or Acer 19" widescreen LCD monitors? Thinking of getting a cheapie.

Also, does anyone know whether these might be old enough models to be either a) well sussed out by now or b) about to be discontinued? I ask because Acer has a cash-back on one of their models.

Newegg has always been a good place to check customer reviews for computer equipment, and all the Acer 19" widescreen monitors there have 5 star average reviews, so I'd say go for it. Hell, I'd get one myself if I had the spare cash.

A quick glance at Acer's site didn't show that first model among their current ones, so it's safe to say it's discontinued. And I don't like the fact there's no specifications listed up there... but hey, people say they're happy with it. I wouldn't change my CRT for it (though I'll probably have to soon enough), but if you're looking for a widescreen LCD it might fit your needs.

I got a Mag Innovision 22in Widescreen monitor for $250 American. Dunno how likely it is for you to find that down there, or whether or not it'd be a comparable price though
