I found this refreshing; it's an acid trip that actually resembles an acid trip. Too many writers--usually those who have never used a hallucinogen in their lives--come up with bonkers stuff to go with it, like synesthesia or seeing and interacting with people and things who are not there, often believing them to be real. An actual hallucination is... different.
Now, what's not clear to me is whether or not the narrator made a literal jump (also realistic). I prefer not knowing, to be honest. It keeps the illusion going.
Good lordT, this brings back serious teenage acid trip memories, how in the holy hell did you remember all of those perfect details! Absolutely amazing writing!
